Eyeworks 2024

Experimental Animation Screening Series

Pioneer Works is excited to present the 13th edition of Eyeworks Experimental Animation Screening Series with two programs of experimental animation, including new films, classic pieces, and rediscoveries. Eyeworks 2024 will screen in Chicago at the Block Cinema, in New York at the Museum of the Moving Image, and in Los Angeles at 2220 Arts + Archives, with a special retrospective screening of films by Yoriko Mizushiri.

The Eyeworks Experimental Animation Screening Series is an annual screening series focusing on experimental animation, with screening events in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York each fall. Eyeworks spotlights works made by individual artists, drawing on the tradition of classic cartoon animation and the lineages of avant-garde and underground cinema. Founded in 2010, Eyeworks aims to present works that engage the enormous potential inherent in animation, and to show pieces that use animation as part of distinctly personal, conceptual, exploratory, and critical practices. Past Eyeworks guests with retrospective screenings have included David OReilly, Lori Damiano, Nancy Andrews, Caleb Wood, Takeshi Murata, Martin Arnold, Jacolby Satterwhite, Naoyuki Tsuji, Janie Geiser, Laura Harrison, Barry Doupé, and Al Jarnow.

The 2024 Eyeworks guest is Yoriko Mizushiri. Eyeworks is curated by Alexander Stewart and Lilli Carré, and is presented by Pioneer Works.
